Phonogenic was formed in Ottawa in 2006; their music has been called soulful, haunting, catchy, sincere, and poetic.  The mission statement of the three piece band (Stephen Eisenhauer on vocals, guitar and keyboards, Stefano Urro on bass and accordion, and Chris Bradley on drums) is to create accessible pub-style music in the vain of Tom Waits, Kelly Joe Phelps, and Damien Rice.  These influences are clear but also sneaking into the mix is Eisenhauer’s pop/rock roots, occasionally demonstrating a heavier sound.  Phonogenic’s music makes the empty road less lonely, the sunshine a little warmer and the pub air a little fresher.
